Tag: God Keeps His Promises - 1 Kings 5-9

1 Kings 8:20 (ESV Strong's)
Now the Lord has fulfilled his promise that he made. For I have risen in the place of David my father, and sit on the throne of Israel, as the Lord promised, and I have built the house for the name of the Lord, the God of Israel.

1 Kings 8:56 (ESV Strong's)
“Blessed be the Lord who has given rest to his people Israel, according to all that he promised. Not one word has failed of all his good promise, which he spoke by Moses his servant.

According a book written by Clint Byars, there are over 3,000 promises in Scripture that God has fulfilled (God Says Yes to Over 3,000 Promises; Clint Byars).   That is a lot of promises to keep.  Yet, we serve a God who promises to keep His Word and has plenty of evidence that He does.  Note what Paul tells the Corinthians:

2 Corinthians 1:19-20 (ESV Strong's)
For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, whom we proclaimed among you, Silvanus and Timothy and I, was not Yes and No, but in him it is always Yes. For all the promises of God find their Yes in him. That is why it is through him that we utter our Amen to God for his glory.

The fact that we can put our trust in God to keep His word is in contrast to a world where everyone is a liar.   Mankind makes promises every day and, either by sure intent or by simply overcommitted urge, they fail to come through on those promises.   We can fully trust God and be assured that He will never fail on not one of His promises. In the above passages we see that Solomon recognized that his own building of the Temple was nothing more than a promises God made to His people.  There are times when God uses us to complete His promises in the lives of others.  That is what the Church is all about.  God promises to take care of His children and He uses the Body of Christ (the Church) to do that.  We are His hands and His feet.   God keeps His promises.  Yet, so many live their lives as though God is a liar.  If God does not keep one of His promises, He is not worthy of any of His promises, or our worship.   We can rest assured that God is not a liar.   What He says He will do, He will do.
