Psalms 142:7 - God’s People Surround God’s People

Psalms 142:7
Bring me out of prison,
that I may give thanks to your name!
The righteous will surround me,
for you will deal bountifully with me.

The Body of Christ is a term we use to describe all those who have come to Christ in faith and are part of Christ’s Church.   We are one body.   When one part of the body hurts the other steps up to minister to that hurt part.   If someone hits their thumb with a hammer the other hand reaches out to massage the thumb.  The person might even put the thumb in their mouth and begin to sooth it like a child would.  One part of the body ministers to the other part.  Paul said it this way:

1 Corinthians 12:26
If one member suffers, all suffer together; if one member is honored, all rejoice together.

In the above Psalm we see the writer say the same things.  When God redeems us (takes us out of prison) we are in need of being cared for by the “righteous.”  God will not just redeem us, but will also care for us.  How does that care happen?  God sends members of the Body, other believers, to care for us and to minister to us.  We can rejoice that we are not alone.  God sends His people to care for His people.
