Leviticus 17:8-9 (ESV)
“And you shall say to them, Any one of the house of Israel, or of the strangers who sojourn among them, who offers a burnt offering or sacrifice and does not bring it to the entrance of the tent of meeting to offer it to the LORD, that man shall be cut off from his people.
God has a way to restore relationships with fallen man. The above couple of verses are only two out of numerous Biblical text that warn that God will not honor those who decide to find another way to approach Him. Note what His Son said along these very lines:
John 10:1 (ESV)
I Am the Good Shepherd
“Truly, truly, I say to you, he who does not enter the sheepfold by the door but climbs in by another way, that man is a thief and a robber.
John 14:6 (ESV)
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
Notice that last line, no one comes to the Father except through me. Those words from Jesus are another way of saying what was said, above, in Leviticus. Notice in the above text what it says if you don’t approach God the way He designed. It reads, that man shall be cut off from his people. God is serious. To those who think there are many Gods, but they are all the same, God says, “NO!” God has a way and demands we approach Him in fear and awe because of it.
Hebrews 12:28-29 (ESV)
Therefore let us be grateful for receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, and thus let us offer to God acceptable worship, with reverence and awe, for our God is a consuming fire.
