Align to God’s Word - It Gives Us Advantage in our Journey - Psalm 119:73-176

How long must your servant endure?

When will you judge those who persecute me?

Psalms 119:90-91 (ESV)

Your faithfulness endures to all generations;

you have established the earth, and it stands fast.

By your appointment they stand this day,

for all things are your servants.

Psalms 119:121-122 (ESV)

I have done what is just and right;

do not leave me to my oppressors.

Give your servant a pledge of good;

let not the insolent oppress me.

Psalms 119:132 (ESV)

Turn to me and be gracious to me,

as is your way with those who love your name.

Psalms 119:149 (ESV)

Hear my voice according to your steadfast love;

O LORD, according to your justice give me life.

There are 176 verses in Psalm 119.   All but the above verses have a mention of God’s word in each verse.  There may be some dispute about verse 149, as it contains the word “justice” and one could make the case that God’s “justice” is stated in HIs word and using “justice” here (especially in the context of the chapter) could be a synonym for God’s word.   There is no theme with the above verses specifically.   They all, however, they appear to speak about three aspects of the writer’s life:

1. His relationship with God

2. God’s character in that relationship

3. His protection from God from his surroundings.

Perhaps, by implication, that is the point of the entire book, which is mainly focused upon God’s word.   As we walk in accordance with God’s word the above three aspects of our life are enhanced.  As we walk in alignment with His word we have a deeper relationship with God, know Him more fully and are given wisdom to steer clear of the world’s traps, as well as put ourselves in a better position to receive His blessings.    God has given us His word to guide us, protect us, give us understanding about Him and much, much more.   Perhaps these verses are not the animally in the chapter, perhaps they are the conclusion of the chapter for those who do the other 169 verses.   Just a thought.
