Judges 1:20
And Hebron was given to Caleb, as Moses had said. And he drove out from it the three sons of Anak.

Before we can really understand the above passage and the lesson it contains, we need to read a few other verses. First, we need to read the verses before and after this verse:
Judges 1:19-21
And the Lord was with Judah, and he took possession of the hill country, but he could not drive out the inhabitants of the plain because they had chariots of iron. And Hebron was given to Caleb, as Moses had said. And he drove out from it the three sons of Anak. But the people of Benjamin did not drive out the Jebusites who lived in Jerusalem, so the Jebusites have lived with the people of Benjamin in Jerusalem to this day.
Notice that Caleb is sandwiched in between two of the tribes of Israel that DID NOT conquer the land God gave them. Yet, Caleb went out and conquered there giants of Anak. What does that tell you about Calab? But, there is another verse we need to remember, from back in the book of Joshua. When Caleb came to Joshua, here was Caleb’s words:
Joshua 14:10-12
And now, behold, the Lord has kept me alive, just as he said, these forty-five years since the time that the Lord spoke this word to Moses, while Israel walked in the wilderness. And now, behold, I am this day eighty-five years old. I am still as strong today as I was in the day that Moses sent me; my strength now is as my strength was then, for war and for going and coming. So now give me this hill country of which the Lord spoke on that day, for you heard on that day how the Anakim were there, with great fortified cities. It may be that the Lord will be with me, and I shall drive them out just as the Lord said.”
Caleb not only conquered his land and the three sons of Anak, he requested it. Plus, Caleb was the oldest of all the nation of Israel at that time. Old age is not a deterrent to stop working for God by faith. Caleb felt quite strong about his own strength. But, the real strength of Caleb was his faith in God’s sustaining power in his life. Caleb is an example that “retirement” is NOT a thing for God. Caleb was ready to work to the very end.
