Joshua 5:10-12
While the people of Israel were encamped at Gilgal, they kept the Passover on the fourteenth day of the month in the evening on the plains of Jericho. And the day after the Passover, on that very day, they ate of the produce of the land, unleavened cakes and parched grain. And the manna ceased the day after they ate of the produce of the land. And there was no longer manna for the people of Israel, but they ate of the fruit of the land of Canaan that year.
Tag: God Keeps His Promises
Israel has finally reached the promised land. The nation was redeemed from Egypt, but because of disobedience, wandered in the wilderness for forty years. Now that they had crossed the Jordon River, they were in the promised land. The temporary food, called “manna” was now needed no more. They now had all the riches of the produce of the land. God is constantly providing for us. But, some of what He gives us, is only temporary, until the fullness of His promise is fully experienced. That is where we are on this earth. This world and this earth is only “manna” for us. God is preparing us a home in heaven, our promises land, with Him in heaven. As we wander this world we eat what we have because it is provided by God. But, this world is not our home, this is the wilderness. We are waiting for our promise land that Christ is preparing for us:
John 14:1-3
“Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.
Today’s manna will be replaced by Heaven’s bounty. Let us long for that day when we celebrate the Passover of the Lamb in Heaven.
