Haggai 1:14
And the Lord stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people. And they came and worked on the house of the Lord of hosts, their God,

The prophet Haggai was sent to the nation of Israel when they began to return to the promise land. They returned and began to rebuild the Temple, only to give up. Apparently, what they did finish, was not impressive:
Haggai 2:3
‘Who is left among you who saw this house in its former glory? How do you see it now? Is it not as nothing in your eyes?
The people were giving up on the work of God’s Temple and started to focus on their own homes:
Haggai 1:9
You looked for much, and behold, it came to little. And when you brought it home, I blew it away. Why? declares the Lord of hosts. Because of my house that lies in ruins, while each of you busies himself with his own house.
Instead, God sent Haggai to motivate them to finish the Temple. In the above verse we see that when God stirs our spirit via His Spirit, we have the motivation to do the work of God. It takes God to stir us. When God does move in our lives we see results. The Spirit never ceases to produce fruit in our lives. If we have no fruit, we have no Spirit. The Spirit is active and alive in our lives. We are not to “try” to muster up our own fruit. God produces glorious fruit in our lives:
Galatians 5:22-23
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.
Only God can both motivate, inspire and empower to produce Godly fruit in our lives.
