Malachi 4:1-3
“For behold, the day is coming, burning like an oven, when all the arrogant and all evildoers will be stubble. The day that is coming shall set them ablaze, says the Lord of hosts, so that it will leave them neither root nor branch. But for you who fear my name, the sun of righteousness shall rise with healing in its wings. You shall go out leaping like calves from the stall. And you shall tread down the wicked, for they will be ashes under the soles of your feet, on the day when I act, says the Lord of hosts.

“For behold, the day is coming ...”. This is the great hope of the believer. This is the great hope that God WILL, one day, balance it all out. God sees the wickedness on the earth. God will punish and bring all the evil into judgement. But, His return will also “rise with healing in its wings” for the believer. Right now the wicked flourish and the righteous suffer. In the future, the wicked will be destroyed and the righteous will be healed. Punishment on the wicked, although they deserve it, does not do everything for those who believe in God and trust Him. Yes, judgement on the wicked sets the righteous free from their oppression, but judgement of others does not heal self. We need God to heal us. That is His work in our lives. He heals us. He is healing us now and will heal us completely in THAT DAY. God has a day coming when it will all be balanced. That heals us. That gives us hope. We all wait in hope for that day. That day began when Christ walked the earth and then died and rose again. That day will finish when He comes again to claim us.
