Truth #356 - Our heart's desire ought to be the salvation of others. Acts 25-26

Acts 26:27-29 (ESV Strong's)

King Agrippa, do you believe the prophets? I know that you believe.”
And Agrippa said to Paul, “In a short time would you persuade me to be a Christian?”
And Paul said, “Whether short or long, I would to God that not only you but also all who hear me this day might become such as I am—except for these chains.”

Truth:  Our heart's desire ought to be the salvation of others.

Paul was arrested in Jerusalem by the Jews who accused him of desecrating the temple.  In the aftermath Paul appealed to Caesar's court and the Roman legal system.  It is stated in v. 32 by the leaders that are present that Paul would be set free if he had not appealed to Caesar.   God had another plan for Paul.   Instead of setting him free, God gave him a chance to proclaim Christ in front of King Agrippa and Governor Fetus.   Paul, without this issue in his life, would probably never get a chance to witness to the king and the governor.   God used the "chains" of Paul's life to put him in the exact position God wanted him to be in to witness to the powers that be in the land.  God uses these circumstances to test us and to shape us into His image.  But, God also uses these issues to give us a platform to share the forgiveness that is in Christ.   Paul had the chance.   Although the King mocks him, Paul tells us the reason he is there: "I would to God that not only but also all who hear me this day might become such as I am ...".    This ought to be our desire for those we meet no matter the circumstances of that meeting.   This is are purpose in life.
