Subject: God's Sovereignty - Psalms 1-2

Psalms 2:1-3 (ESV Strong's)

Why do the nations rage
and the peoples plot in vain?
The kings of the earth set themselves,
and the rulers take counsel together,
against the Lord and against his Anointed, saying,
“Let us burst their bonds apart
and cast away their cords from us.”

Subject:  God's Sovereignty

As the nightly news blares through most homes across the country we hear about one leader after another rage about what they would do in this situation and that situation.   A number of them are non-believers and they rage and sprout out words against the plan of God and the people of God.   These leaders have come to the point where they think their leadership and position have given them power to do harm to God's people.   They have read so much about themselves that they begin to believe it and will be crushed as a result of it.   In the next verse, after these three, the Psalmist writes, "He who sits in the heaven laughs;".     God is amused by these self-proclaim pontiffs. He does not fear them and He does not ignore them.   The world is completely taken aback by their rhetoric and their extremes mis-Justice of power.   The believe extreme violence will demonstrate their commitment to their cause.  Yet, their cause will be crushed by Jesus Christ, the maker and creator of all power.   They have their power because Jesus gives them their power.   He sets them simply to take them down.   They may plan but the victory is from the Lord.
