Fight Temptation Through Worship - Matthew 3-4

 Matthew 4:1-3 (ESV)

Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. And after fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. And the tempter came and said to him, ...

Even if you are in the act of worship, as Jesus was, this does not exempt you from temptation and, in fact, that can and will invite temptation.   Here are some areas to pray over yourself in worship about temptation:

MON-Empowers

Even being the Son of God did not exempt from temptation - but being “in” the Son of God empowers you through temptation.

TUES-Equips

Even being “full” of the Spirit does not exempt from temptation - but being full of the Spirit of God equips you to fight temptation

WED-Escorts

Even being “led” by the Spirit does not exempt from temptation - but being led by the Spirit escorts you through the temptation

THUR-Enables

Even being in an act of worship (fasting) does not exempt us from temptation - but being in an act of worship enables you to resist temptation

FRI-Empties

Satan will tempt us in our time of vulnerability - but being in a state of vulnerability empties us of ourselves to be filled by the Spirit

SAT-Eager

Satan will tempt us with what we may “need” most by tempting us how to obtain it in the wrong way (Genesis 3) - but being in a place of need makes us eager for something from God to satisfy that in the right way.  (Matthew 5:6)

SUN-Escape

Satan will tempt us with “if” propositions to doubt our identity in Christ - but it is in those “if” times of life we find ways to escape danger through Christ.

1 Corinthians 10:13 (ESV)

13 No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.
