Tag: God Has a Plan - Ecclesiastes 3-4

Ecclesiastes 3:14
I perceived that whatever God does endures forever; nothing can be added to it, nor anything taken from it. God has done it, so that people fear before him.

God does a lot of stuff.  God has been doing a lot of stuff for a long time.  The above verse gives us understanding that God has given us gifts, pain, happiness, sorrow, rain, snow, laughter, brokenness, health, jobs, material goods, blessing, cursing, etc. for the sole purpose of teaching us to fear Him.  There are a number of points in this verse that should not be missed:

#1 - God does things - God is in charge of the universe and it is His work that is working.

#2 - God has a plan - it is implied in this verse that God is doing something with a plan intent at the end.  That means each action of God is for that intent.

#3 - God’s work endures - nothing God does is insignificant or temporary.  He is working a plan and each step of the plan has an enduring quality to it.

#4 - We can’t add or subtract from God’s plan - we might think that our contributions are independent and in our control, but even our aimless acts of rebellion are simply an extension of God’s enduring work.

#5 - God does all this to get us to fear Him - in Proverbs we read that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of Wisdom.   God’s entire game plan is to get mankind to fear Him in holy reverence and submissive honor.

God has a plan and we are part of the redemption of that plan.   Praise Him for that!!!
