Hebrews 1:1-4
Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world. He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, having become as much superior to angels as the name he has inherited is more excellent than theirs.
Tag: Christ is the Visible Image of God’s Glory
God is glory. It is innate in His character to be glorified. The Trinity gives glory to each person in the Trinity (John 14:1; John 13:31; John 16:12-14). Man has had exposure to God’s Glory in the past via Creation (Psalm 19); The Cloud and the Fire that lead Israel (Exodus 40:34); and via Christ’s suffering (John 1:14; 2:11; 8:54; 12:23-24, 27-32). God chose to revel His glory to us. In the above passage we see that Christ is the the “radiance of the Glory of God and the exact imprint of His nature.” Wow!!! If you want to know what the Glory of God looks like you only have to look at Jesus. If you want to know what Jesus looks like read the Gospels, or the Epistles that were written to explain who Jesus is. God is expressing Himself to us in the Person of His Son. The Son is the “exact imprint” of His glory. The glory of God is important because it shows us the awesomeness of God and the reverence and fear God deserves. The world uses God’s name in vain, thus diminishing and destroying the glory of God. When we diminish God’s Glory we stand in judgment by God. That, too, will come from Jesus, who has been made Lord over all. God is to be glorified via the Son and in the Son.
