Truth #351 - God must open our eyes to His truth - Deuteronomy 29-31

Deuteronomy 29:4 (ESV Strong's)
But to this day the Lord has not given you a heart to understand or eyes to see or ears to hear.

Truth:  God must open our eyes to see the truth of God's Word.

Later in this chapter Moses is going to tell the nation that God has secrets and those secrets are beyond their understanding.  Note:

Deuteronomy 29:29 (ESV Strong's)
“The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things that are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law.

Here Moses gives us a truth that God has truth that only He can reveal.   some things are a mystery that only God can reveal.  The nation of Israel was not always ready to receive these things because of their disobedience.    Later in the New Testament Paul writes about this mystery:

Colossians 1:24-28 (ESV Strong's)
Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and in my flesh I am filling up what is lacking in Christ's afflictions for the sake of his body, that is, the church,
of which I became a minister according to the stewardship from God that was given to me for you, to make the word of God fully known,
the mystery hidden for ages and generations but now revealed to his saints.
To them God chose to make known how great among the Gentiles are the riches of the glory of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.
Him we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ.

They "mystery" that God must reveal to us is the Gospel message: That Christ died for our sins and lives again for our power and freedom from sin.   By faith we must come to God and believe that He will reveal Himself to us.   We can rejoice that He choose to reveal Himself to us and we can learn more and more about that mystery.   The nation of Israel did not always have the faith to trust God for Him to reveal Himself to them.   Despite the wonders and the power He showed them, they still sought the gods of the world.
