1 John 4:2-3 (ESV Strong's)
By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God,
and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you heard was coming and now is in the world already.
Truth: What someone believes about Christ determines if they are with Christ or anti-Christ.
There are many religions who profess a form of belief in "God." They practice faith and preach faith and even propagate faith. Yet, the substance of their faith is missing the main point ... THE Son of God!! The above passage (and many that follow in these two chapters) tell us that we MUST believe that Jesus was the Son of God and the Messiah, the Savior of the World. John is emphatic that we believe that Jesus was the ONLY Son of God. We can determine if a faith is true or false based upon this single doctrine. The reason we can is because that is what John tells us. We might differ in many other aspects of our faith and doctrine. But, we have to start with this one main thought: Jesus Christ is THE Son of God and in Him ONLY is our salvation. If we stray from that truth we leave the very cornerstone of faith. John tells us that those who deny Christ are antichrist. He also tells us that the "spirit of antichrist" is already in the world. We were told by Christ that the end times would find a spirit of antichrist, but John tells us it is already amongst them. So, too, with us today. Those who deny that Christ was THE Son of God and THE Savior of the Word are many. Today they continue to preach their own doctrine and they continue to deny Christ. Ask someone if they believe if Jesus is THE ONLY, TRUE Son of God and Savior of the world. That will tell you if they or their faith is Spirit filled by Christ, or antichrist.
My 2025 Theme Verses: Ezra 7:10 (ESV) For Ezra had set his heart to study the Law of the LORD, and to do it and to teach his statutes and rules in Israel. Daniel 1:8 (ESV) But Daniel resolved that he would not defile himself with the king’s food, or with the wine that he drank. Therefore he asked the chief of the eunuchs to allow him not to defile himself.
