Deuteronomy 4:32-34 (ESV)
“For ask now of the days that are past, which were before you, since the day that God created man on the earth, and ask from one end of heaven to the other, whether such a great thing as this has ever happened or was ever heard of. Did any people ever hear the voice of a god speaking out of the midst of the fire, as you have heard, and still live? Or has any god ever attempted to go and take a nation for himself from the midst of another nation, by trials, by signs, by wonders, and by war, by a mighty hand and an outstretched arm, and by great deeds of terror, all of which the LORD your God did for you in Egypt before your eyes?
What God has ever done this?

Moses is asking a profound question to the nation of Israel. They were chosen out of a land where they were captive to idols (Genesis 12). They were redeemed out of a land where they were held captivity by Pharaoh. But God reached down and chose them and redeemed them. Why? What God does that? Now He is about to bring them into a land that He promised would flow with milk and honey. Why? No god has ever been recorded as doing this. Only Yahweh has done this and only He can. But why? The next verse tells us the why.
Deuteronomy 4:35 (ESV)
To you it was shown, that you might know that the LORD is God; there is no other besides him.
To you it was shown, that you might know that the LORD is God; there is no other besides him.
God is like no other. He chooses. He redeems. He sacrifices. Our God is the only God who dies in the story. No other God dies. They might be said to kill. They might be said to save. They might be said to judge. They might be said to have mercy. But only our God sent His Son to die. Only our God sent His Son to die, that He might raise Him from the dead. Only our God. No other story in mankind’s history tells this story. In all other belief systems we have to pay for our own sins. But God is the only God who pays for them with the death of His Son. Why? So that we might is that there is no other god besides Him!
