God Sets The Boarders - Numbers 33-36

Numbers 34:12 (ESV)

And the border shall go down to the Jordan, and its limit shall be at the Salt Sea. This shall be your land as defined by its borders all around.”

In verses 1-11 of this chapter, God outlines, through Moses’ words, the boarders for the nation of Israel.  The above verse is a summary of those previous verses.  The point God is making is:

1. You will have boarders.

2. I, God, will define your boarders.

3. The land I am giving you is a gift.

4. This is where I want you to live.

5. No one else can define your boarders.

It is, perhaps, this last point that is making things so tough for Israel in this day and age.  They are operating by Numbers 34:1-12 (and many other related text).  Others are operating and acting upon their imagination and their own design for this land in the Middle East.  Historically it has had many voices speaking into these boarders and designing these boarders.  But this is God’s design.  Those who reject God do not believe in His boarders for Israel. Those who believe that God created the world and can define the boarders of mankind, rest in these verses.  When the apostle Paul was defending himself and the gospel, he said it this way:

Acts 17:24-27 (ESV)

The God who made the world and everything in it, being Lord of heaven and earth, does not live in temples made by man, nor is he served by human hands, as though he needed anything, since he himself gives to all mankind life and breath and everything. And he made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined allotted periods and the boundaries of their dwelling place, that they should seek God, and perhaps feel their way toward him and find him. Yet he is actually not far from each one of us,

God sets the boarders.  Everyones!   Especially for His people, that nation of Israel.
