2 Thessalonians 3:16 (ESV)
Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times in every way. The Lord be with you all.
NOW MAY THE GOD OF PEACE ... ! This is the closing of Paul’s second letter to the church at Thessalonica. In this letter he is warning them, instructing them and providing them so comfort. This is not the only time the Bible talks about the God of peace, or the Lord of peace. Note:
Romans 15:33 (ESV)
May the God of peace be with you all. Amen.
Hebrews 13:20 (ESV)
Now may the God of peace who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant,
We are also equipped with the armor of God regarding peace:
Ephesians 6:15 (ESV)
and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace.
We are also equipped with peace via the fruit of the Spirit:
Galatians 5:22 (ESV)
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
Jesus came to give us peach:
John 14:27 (ESV)
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.
To say that God wants us to have and experience His peace in our lives would be a complete understatement. He is the God of peace and He sent His Son, Jesus, to breakdown the hostility between Him and us, due to our sin, and provide peace:
Romans 5:1 (ESV)
Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Romans 8:5-6 (ESV)
For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit. For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace.
When Paul ends this little letter with the words, now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times in every way, he means it. At all times and in every way!
