We Were Born To Praise - Psalms 69-71

Psalms 71:4-6 (ESV)
Rescue me, O my God, from the hand of the wicked,
from the grasp of the unjust and cruel man.
For you, O Lord, are my hope,
my trust, O LORD, from my youth.
Upon you I have leaned from before my birth;
you are he who took me from my mother’s womb.
My praise is continually of you.

We were born to praise God.   In this song, the writer of Psalm 71 is in some sort of trial.   Yet, in the midst of the struggle, he finds he can still find hope and safety in God.   He recognizes that this hope is given to Him by God and that His praise was set in motion before he knew anything about motion.   It is important that we recognize that we were born to praise God.   He chooses us from our mother’s womb for such a wonderful task.  We can find relief from those who are persecuting us by turning our praise to God.   Praise is the counter balance to grief.    As we praise God we fill our hearts with the hope that grief attempts to diminish.   Praise is God’s antidote for most of our struggles.  Praise and thanks are counter intuitive to our pain and suffering.  When we don’t feel like praising God, that is the exact time we should.   Praise uplifts God in the moment of trials and grief.   In turn, He uplifts us.
