Psalms 59:5 (ESV)
You, LORD God of hosts, are God of Israel.
Rouse yourself to punish all the nations;
spare none of those who treacherously plot evil. Selah
Psalms 59:8 (ESV)
But you, O LORD, laugh at them;
you hold all the nations in derision.
Proverbs 1:24-27 (ESV)
Because I have called and you refused to listen,
have stretched out my hand and no one has heeded,
because you have ignored all my counsel
and would have none of my reproof,
I also will laugh at your calamity;
I will mock when terror strikes you,
when terror strikes you like a storm
and your calamity comes like a whirlwind,
when distress and anguish come upon you.
If you ever wondered how God feels and how He acts toward the puppet rulers of this world, the above verses tell you want you need to know. He is not impressed with leaders who think they are great, no matter how much they beat their chest to tell Him and us about how great they are. In the end, God laughs at them. They simply have a refusal to acknowledge that God put them there, God keeps them there and God uses them why they are in leadership. From the head of your HOA to the leaders of your state to the leaders of your country, God is charge. Those who reject His sovereign will over them are laughed at and, eventually, ridiculed by Him. Like Nebuchadnezzar, who ate grass like a cow in a moment of mental health crisis, God is in charge. We can be at angst about what they do and plan, but, in the end, it is God who is in control.
Proverbs 21:1 (ESV)
The king’s heart is a stream of water in the hand of the LORD;
he turns it wherever he will.
