History Proves God Delivers - Isaiah 34-39

Isaiah 37:36-38 (ESV)

And the angel of the LORD went out and struck down 185,000 in the camp of the Assyrians. And when people arose early in the morning, behold, these were all dead bodies. Then Sennacherib king of Assyria departed and returned home and lived at Nineveh. And as he was worshiping in the house of Nisroch his god, Adrammelech and Sharezer, his sons, struck him down with the sword. And after they escaped into the land of Ararat, Esarhaddon his son reigned in his place.

The book of Isaiah is full of the prophecy of Isaiah and the history of Israel and other nations.   You can do any search of history and any historian (outside of Biblical accounts) and see that the above story is true.   The history in the books of the Bible has been proven over and over.   (In fact, just recently there has been a discover of Babylonian artifacts that have on them the engraved names of the three Hebrew boys that were tossed into the fiery furnace.)  In the above story we read about the assassination of Sennacherib, king of Assyria.   He had threatened to destroy Jerusalem and King Hezekiah.   Hezekiah laid out his threats before God and God avenged the king.    We can worry about those who come up against us, but God has promised to deliver us from the wicked in this world who would want to harm us.   Note:

Psalms 27:2-4 (ESV)

When evildoers assail me

to eat up my flesh,

my adversaries and foes,

it is they who stumble and fall.

Though an army encamp against me,

my heart shall not fear;

though war arise against me,

yet I will be confident.

One thing have I asked of the LORD,

that will I seek after:

that I may dwell in the house of the LORD

all the days of my life,

to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD

and to inquire in his temple.

God has a history of delivering His people from bad people:

1. God delivered Noah from the evil people of his day (Genesis 6)

2. God delivered Abraham and Sari from the king (Genesis 12-13)

3. God delivered Moses and the people of Israel (Exodus 1-10)

4. God delivered David from Saul (1 Samuel)

5. God delivered Jeremiah from many pits (Jeremiah 38)

6. God delivered Jonah from the storm and fish (Jonah 2)

7. God delivered Nehemiah from a wicked politician named, Sanbalat (Nehemiah 4)

8. God delivered Daniel from many perils (Daniel 1-6)

9. God delivered Peter, Paul and most of the disciples (Acts)

10. God delivered His Son, Jesus, from the Satan and the death of the grave.

Don’t despair!  God delivers.   History proves all this.  The Bible states this.
