Luke 10:21-22
In that same hour he rejoiced in the Holy Spirit and said, “I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding and revealed them to little children; yes, Father, for such was your gracious will. All things have been handed over to me by my Father, and no one knows who the Son is except the Father, or who the Father is except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.”
Tag: What I know, I know by God’s Grace and Mercy
Too many believe that they have chosen to believe and/or they have believed hard enough that God has only one choice but to save them. They study the Scripture to learn and to present their knowledge to mankind. Yet, the above passage indicates that if I know anything at all about Christ, it is not my knowledge and increased learning that has provided me insights into the scriptures. It is a Sovereign act of God’s mercy and grace that I know Him and that I know the Scriptures. The next couple of verses give us even more insights:
Luke 10:23-24
Then turning to the disciples he said privately, “Blessed are the eyes that see what you see! For I tell you that many prophets and kings desired to see what you see, and did not see it, and to hear what you hear, and did not hear it.”
Prophets and Kings have desired to know Christ the way we know Him. Yet, they did not. They had faith in what “would” be done. We have faith in what “was” done. We have had the “mystery” of the kingdom revealed at the greatest extent of human history. Not because we deserve it, earn it, or study it; but, because He chose to reveal it. This is caused to rejoice and celebrate the greatness of God and His mercy on us.
