Psalms 119:2-5 (ESV)
Blessed are those who keep his testimonies,
who seek him with their whole heart,
who also do no wrong,
but walk in his ways!
You have commanded your precepts
to be kept diligently.
Oh that my ways may be steadfast
in keeping your statutes!
If you have studied the Bible long enough you already know that Psalm 119 is all about God’s word. There are a number of words that are used throughout the chapter to identify God’s word:
- Law
- Word
- Testimony
- Judgements
- Rules
- Statutes
- Promises
- Precepts
In the above set of verses we read the avenue by which we receive the blessings from keeping God’s word:
- The word keep is used.
- The word seek with a whole heart is used.
- The words do no wrong are used.
- The words walk in His ways are used.
- The words keep diligently are used.
- The words be steadfast in keeping your statutes are used.
Make no mistake, there are blessings for obeying God’s word. But this is no ordinary obeying. The is full commitment to His word.
